WCCTV BACKGROUND
In the Summer of 2006, the Management Staff of the Wagmatcook First
Nation Culture & Heritage Centre took the initiative of presenting the
concept of initiating the development of a new community cable
television channel to benefit the people of Wagmatcook in many new ways.
Immediately, the communication of community notices, activities, events
and announcements would now have a home and a regular schedule for
getting information out to the people. Many saw this as a very
important piece of work that this new channel would create, along with
its sister web site that will help to increase knowledge for all
community members and visitors to this site.
Phase 1:
- Identification of a Training Company
- Hiring of a Contractor (DMG Consulting)
- University students on summer break were hired for summer
jobs at the Wagmatcook Centre which included training on how to run a multi
media operation, how to operate digital and video cameras,
proper shooting techniques, transferring footage to computers and
how to produce DVD's of local events that were videotaped during
training.
